What kids practice in KampKid
The eight KampKid camps
KampKid has eight camps. Each one teaches one real-world camping skill through pictures, voices and choices, with Tilla the otter and Lance the camper. Fire, water, wildlife and first aid are always practiced with a grown-up.
Chapter 1 is free to play in your browser. A one-time purchase unlocks Chapters 2 to 8.
Camp 1
Lakeside Camp
The skill: Pack up, plan ahead and pick a safe campsite.
Kids practice thinking ahead before a trip: what goes in the pack, where the tent should go, and how to look up, look down and look around a campsite for hazards.
Camp 2
Forest Camp
The skill: Shelter, knots and a dry night under a tarp.
Kids see how a small tarp shelter works and practice wrapping, looping and checking a rope, always with a grown-up.
Camp 3
Fire Ring
The skill: Campfire rules, safe space and a cold fire.
Every campfire starts with rules, safe space and a grown-up. Kids learn how to help check that a fire is cold.
Camp 4
Creek Camp
The skill: Safe water, treated first.
Kids learn that clear water still needs a grown-up, a treatment step and time to cool before anyone drinks it.
Camp 5
Clean Camp
The skill: Leave no trace: pack it out, leave it wild.
Kids practice leave no trace: stay on the trail, leave nature where it grows, and take every wrapper and food scrap home.
Camp 6
Compass Rock
The skill: Map, compass and what to do when you feel lost.
Kids use a map, a compass, landmarks and a whistle, and learn what to do when the trail feels mixed up.
Camp 7
Blackwater Swamp
The skill: Watch wildlife from a distance and weather smarts.
Kids watch wildlife from a safe distance, keep food packed away and learn to go indoors when thunder roars.
Camp 8
Night Lookout
The skill: Stars, the North Star and basic first aid.
Kids find the Big Dipper, follow it to the North Star, and learn how to help a grown-up care for a small scrape.
Three play modes, same skills.
A grown-up picks the mode: Sprout for ages 5 to 7, Explorer for ages 8 to 9, or Ranger for ages 10 to 11. How KampKid works for parents.
